Welcome to The Cuchara Inn

The Cuchara Inn was built in the 1980’s to service the (then) Cuchara Mountain Ski Resort. The complex has taken on many incarnations since then, and the hundreds of “family guests” who visited (and continue to visit) have just as many stories to tell about the inn’s history.

The inn fell into major disrepair until Eddy and Barbara Hall from Lamar, Colorado bought it and began its renovation. In their four years as the inn’s keepers, half of the 45 guest rooms and suites were updated with new flooring, bathrooms, paint and decor.

In December of 2015, Scott and Dani Lynch bought the inn and have continued in Barb and Eddy’s footsteps. They have focused on the lobby area, taking down the dividing walls to create a large, open space. The new lobby contains a four-sided stone fireplace, many comfortable areas to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, read a book from the bookstore or lending library, utilize the upgraded internet service or just take a break from a busy day. The incredible new grand staircase, designed by local artisan Steve Palmer, stops all newcomers in their tracks! (We are actually the ONLY inn lobby with a functioning tree swing!)

The Lynch’s goal is to make the inn complex the “center” of the village once again. They are sponsoring the Cuchara Foundation to serve all our village visitors concierge information, located in the new lobby. The Foundation members have extensive information about all there is to do and see in the beautiful Cuchara Valley.

The inn has been blessed with the talents of Chef Kristina Heim (Ryus Bakery). Her crew will be opening “The Kitchen” on Mother’s Day 2016. Chef Kristina has proven time and time again her mad skills in combining “health” and “delicious” in one bite!

“The Market” will inhabit one of the retail spaces in the complex, providing organic produce from Chef Kristina’s local farm, homemade breads, pastries and deserts, cage-free eggs, and “clean” meats and cheeses. Visitors will no longer have to drive to La Veta to pick up groceries and supplies. The Market will also provide the village with it’s first (believe it or not!) ATM machine!

The final retail space will house our “healing consortium” of local masters of massage, Reiki, and other healing arts.

Plans for the 2016 season include an outdoor living area in the lovely courtyard (less those awful transformers – thank you San Isabel Electric!). The area will include a heated mineral pool, two spas, six fire pit areas and a gazebo for parties and weddings.

The Cuchara Inn will continue to expand our support services for individuals with chronic illnesses. We are constantly researching new trials and studies performed all over the world. Our Alzheimer’s Protocol stands alone as a potential curative.
